My life is in you
I receive this moment as a gift
All that has been, what lies ahead,
and the exact manner of creature that I am,
remain a mystery to me,
beyond understanding
But I trust the love that spoke this world into existence
I say “yes” to whatever this day will bring
Only let me see and cherish what is real
Sometimes I struggle with doubts about the significance of my life, or feel anxious about what I accomplish with my work. I wrote this prayer and repeated it as I woke up and feel asleep each day during a 21 day group experiment in July. I found that it helped me stay present to the moment and helped me consent to life.
