Community Advocates

Our community life is facilitated by a group of people we call "advocates." Advocates are members of the community who:

  • Initiate projects
  • Facilitate encounter groups
  • Provide Mentoring
  • Host Gatherings

Caroline Poppajohn

Caroline Pappajohn is Enterprise Director of New Door Ventures - a nonprofit faith-based organization that helps at-risk youth in San Francisco prepare for work and life.  Prior to joining New Door in 2002, Caroline spent 10 years in high-tech startups, and  began her career in the public sector as the legislative assistant to Senator Arlen Specter. She received her B.A. and MBA from Stanford University. Caroline is  Orthodox Christian and an active member of the Annunciation Cathedral Greek Orthodox Church in San Francisco, where she helps with the annual Greek Food Festival, teaches Sunday school, and is a strong advocate and volunteer for Community Link, a ministry that seeks to bring community, love and support to shut-ins and others who are experiencing isolation or loneliness.

Lisa Scandrette

Lisa Scandrette has been involved with ReImagine since its conception and is involved in a variety of ways including, but not limited to, book keeping, hospitality and involvement in projects.  She is married to Mark Scandrette and educates their three children, involves herself in a local homeschool network, enjoys reading, knitting and playing with fiber.

Ryan and HollyRyan and Holly Sharp came to San Francisco in July of '06 after being on a global pilgrimage for the last year. They both contribute to the community with their experience in the arts and leadership. Ryan–among other things–is a singer-songwriter whose lyrics cut deep at the struggle for wholeness and proclaim a new way to live. Holly–among other things–is a painter, and her current works reflect the need and desire to create space for the cultivation of our souls. They also run their own graphic design company, SharpSeven and live in the Bernal Heights neighborhood with their son, Paxton. Oh, and they dream of owning a small-batch winery and retreat center in the Sierra foothills some day.

Mark ScandretteMark Scandrette is the executive director and cofounder of ReIMAGINE, and a founding member of SEVEN. He lectures frequently with the U.S. Center for World Missions, leads retreats and workshops and provides life coaching and spiritual direction. He is married to Lisa Scandrette, the educator and textile artist. They have three children and live in an old victorian in San Francisco's Mission District.

Nate Millheim

Nate Millheim is the Director of Training Initiatives at ReIMAGINE and is a founding member of SEVEN. Nate is an ordained minister and previously served as Pastor of Student Ministries at Creekside Community Church. He frequently speaks for churches, classes, retreats and camps. He and his wife Andrea reside in San Francisco with their two children, Kayla and Chase.

Amy RossAmy Ross,is the Community Outreach Coordinator at ReIMAGINE and a member of SEVEN. Her roommates describe her as a five-foot-four-inch passionate fireball. Amy is a Bay Area transplant who moved to Oakland in 2001. She was eventually lured to The City, but still has a soft spot in her heart for Oakland. She studied social work and community advocacy at SFSU. Amy has worked as a case manager with at-risk youth, seniors, and persons in recovery, cared for special-needs children and has contributed to community organizing efforts. While social work is her method, people are her passion. She loves finding out the details and stories of people's lives and does this through photojournalism and by asking lots of questions. She has a deep desire to relate closely with people and see them step into the life design they were created to live. Amy has a knack for organization, a tendency to be late, and fervently believes in treating the whole person. She is always up for a game of soccer, a sing-a-long, or an adventure in the woods. And talking. She likes talking. Amy currently lives in the Mission District of San Francisco and has recently met a new Mac computer, with whom she is becoming very attached. And yes, she does own a cool hat, but did not feel like wearing it on picture day.
