Obedience Learning Lab #2
Jesus invites us to pledge our obedience to the Kingdom of God with every dimension of life. Last week we looked at how me might change our financial investments and alliances in order to advance God's kingdom and demonstrate our obedience. War and resource pillaging are two more ways that our current nation-state stands in opposition to the Kingdom of God. Over the next couple weeks we want to look at how me might both redeem our current use of resources and live by a standard we feel more aligns with Jesus' teachings. Therefore we are going to examine our energy use and pollution in 5 arenas:
- our usage of cars
- public transportation (buses, subways, airplanes, etc.)
- home & household
- consumer goods
- organizations and policy level work that are specific to this issue
After tonights meeting we will all be part of smaller cohort looking at one of these areas. The assignment is to look at our particular piece and research the following:
- Energy usage. Energy consumption with usage, maintenance, and production.
- CO2 emissions.
- Sustainable distribution/consumption.
And put together a summary of our findings that will become part of a collective document that we can form so as to establish an informed way of life that is sustainable and inhabits the values of God's reign of love.
