Abolition.: An exercise in advocacy to end slavery

Abolition : Your choices matter

An estimated 27 million people are enslaved across the world today; many of them in San Francisco.  Human trafficking is not only is the third largest illegal activity in our world, but also the third most profitable criminal industry. We all participate in slavery through the global economy in which we live.  Your choices matter.  Join us.  In this six week learning lab we will participate in creative activism and contribute to the 'releasing of the captives'.
We will:

    * Follow in the Way of Jesus on this a social/global issue
    * Conduct a grassroots propaganda campaign
    * Develop eyes to recognize slavery through mapping and research
    * Cultivate an awareness of how our lifestyles impact slavery
    * Become the voice of the victims through letter writing, calling, and educating those in our circles of influence
    * Assist in the restoration of a sense of identity to victims by meeting the physical needs of local survivors
    * Learn ways that our personal skills can be used to abolish slavery
    * Invite others into the abolitionist movement through an art instillation

Enter Space.....Silent Retreat

Prayer is our breath of life and it is through prayer,or communion
with God, that we live and breath. In him we move and have our being,
so much so that we are inexplicably linked to our Creator. The Nazarene
came proclaiming union with God, the seed of life rooted in us.The
practice of prayer should aid us in removing the layers that have been
placed on us, moving us toward finding the life breath of God within
us. Prayer is not merely the utterance of words or petitions. It is
life with God in everything we do. Through new experiences, information
and reflection we are able to awaken the dormant pulse of God that
resides within.

Please join us for a 3 day guided silent prayer retreat. Where we
will practice the art of stillness and learn to listen for the voice of
God.

The retreat will take place February 22 - 24th 2008.
Location - Klein Cabin @ Kirkwood
All meals and lodging included.
Cost - $95

If you would like to sign up please click here. Once you have signed up click here to pay for the retreat.
